The family behind the brand | Nitschke Chaff & Co
Nitschke Chaff & Co was established in 2024 by owner and Co-Owner Daina and Jayden Nitschke. The passion for trucking and farming started well before this with Co-owner, Jayden Nitschke, being 5th generation to his family business; Nitschke Chaff & Freight.
Nitschke Chaff & Freight was established in 1912 and was predominantly farming and agriculture until later 2000's when the first truck was purchased for local deliveries. Not long after, a few more trucks filtered into the business for both local and interstate deliveries. By 2018/2019 the trucking portion of the family business boomed and grew into the 20 trucks that are now owned and operated by the family business, Nitschke Chaff & Freight.
In 2020, Nitschke Chaff & Freight started buying Nitschke Truck Caps and shortly after Daina and Jayden were working alongside Ally Nitschke (Mum + Boss lady) to create new hat designs and further merch that were clearely loved by people all over Australia.
After some time, discussions and heavy consideration Daina and Jayden Nitschke saw how busy the family business was getting as it was growing and developing so rapidly and there wasnt much room for merch ideas anymore, BUT we still had so many ideas for merch and wanted it to continue! We refused to throw the towel in on the idea and pitched the thought of creating a sister-company side-by-side to Nitschke Chaff & Freight, but something that solely focused on the "Nitschke chaff & Freight" trucking merchandise.
October 2024, we started ordering merch for stock, starting with footy shorts and trucker caps, and starting the process of opening our own business. Lots of thought, time, care and consideration went into the business name and business logo. We still wanted a logo and business name that tied into the family business, after all that's what our business is predominantly based around. Therein lies how we came up with Nitschke Chaff & Co and our wheathead logo.
Around the same time as starting the Nitschke sister company, we had our second son and also got married - busy year!
Our first born son is Branson. He's named after the road Nitschke Chaff & Freight resides on, the business has surrounded this land since 1912, there's so much heritage and family ties to this land & road, we found this to be the perfect name for our first country loving son. An absolute treasure to our family, he's a larrikin and always trying to make everyone laugh, but also a softy and will always check in with you.
Our second born son is Rowan. An absolute fire cracker from birth, he gives the most amount of 'second child energy' possible and we often think he may grow up to be a stunt man - definitely keeps us on our toes.
Both our sons are truck and farm obsessed. Branson is showing early signs of true passion and knowledge and often corrects us if we use the wrong terminology surrounding equipment on the farm or if we're talking about peoples daily movements, he'll butt in and correct us where we're wrong. Branson and Rowan can hear the trucks from the highway and they'll be sure to be waving or 'pump arming' through the windows or on the ramp at the yard as you're coming in.
Jayden, Co-Owner and Husband/Father, is a full-time interstate truck driver for the family business Nitschke Chaff & Freight. His passion started very young, similar to Branson, he takes so much pride in what he does and that goes to show through the way he speaks to customer, how he maintains his truck and all equipment and the way he'll navigate lost drivers whether thats geographically or mentally out on the roads! He'll take any job head on and loves a change of scenery.
Daina, Owner and Wife/Mother, in the last few years she's worn multiple hats while working in the trucking industry while also being a hands on Mother and now devoted Wife. She loves a challange and loves pushing herself to be better every day, no matter what it's regarding. Our family and our boys are most important to her, showing up for the family is her daily goal. You'll usually find her behind a new Nitschke design idea or behind a camera filming/photographing content for our business.
We are just a typical family, a country loving, farm working and truck obsessed family who feel very passionate towards the family businesses.
Thank you to each and every one of our customers, we love packing your orders, hearing your feedback and meeting you all/speaking with you all. Most orders are packed overnight or packed with a baby in hand, but it doesn't change the love, time and consideration that goes into each and every order - we are so passionate and truly grateful for our new found community!
